Viewing delivery times through the eyes of a UK consumer:
The UK is relatively compact with a very mature e-commerce landscape. British consumers are accustomed to the speed of Royal Mail 48 or Amazon Prime. When it comes to parcels, they care particularly about two things: weekend delivery habits and regular tracking updates on the last mile.
If your parcel is in transit from China to the UK and the tracking doesn’t update for three or four days, UK buyers will quickly send chasing emails. The advantage of the Standard Dedicated Line is fast customs clearance; once cleared after landing at Heathrow, it is handed directly to established UK domestic carriers (such as Royal Mail or Evri). The last-mile tracking connects seamlessly, and 6 to 8 days is regarded by most UK shoppers as a thoroughly acceptable cross-border delivery timeframe.
3. How Are Shipping Rates Actually Calculated? Avoid Industry Tricks
Cross-border logistics has plenty of pitfalls. Many quotes appear dirt cheap on the surface, but the final invoice comes as a nasty surprise. With us, every calculation is completely transparent:
1. The Formula: Gram-based Weight Fee + Registration Fee
- Shipping Cost = Actual Weight Fee + Registration Fee.

Aviation security imposes strict safety requirements on lithium batteries, requiring dedicated compliant channels. Consequently, the unit shipping rate for items with batteries is slightly higher than for standard goods without batteries.
3. A Lifesaver for Bulky Goods: Volumetric Weight Divided by 8000 & Free Vacuum Sealing
Sellers handling apparel, plush toys, cushions, and bags dread volumetric weight. The universal rule in international freight is: you are charged by whichever is greater—actual weight or volumetric weight.
- Divided by 8000: Most forwarders in the market calculate volumetric weight as Length × Width × Height (cm) / 5000 or 6000. With our logistics partners, volumetric weight is divided by 8000!Let’s do the maths: a parcel measuring 30 × 20 × 15 cm has a volume of 9,000 cm³. Divided by 6000, the billable weight is 1.5 kg. But divided by 8000, it is only 1.125 kg. That difference alone on a single parcel can save you the price of a proper meal; scale that across higher order volumes, and you’ll realise how much money this single factor saves you.
- Free Vacuum Sealing: For bulky items like down jackets, knitwear, and cushions, MR. TAN’s warehouse provides free vacuum compression packaging. Sucking the air out cuts the volume by more than half, drastically lowering your volumetric shipping costs right at the source, and you only need to pay for the vacuum bag itself (which is super cheap).
